email: Why I advocate One World Government

I was recently asked why I advocate One World Government. Here was a brief email I wrote to the questioner:



Mostly because I am an optimist. A lot of people argue that OWG would oppress, strip of rights, enslave, etc. Kill competition. Destroy everything good and sacred and holy in the world.

While there are definitely oppressive overtones to the whole concept, and there are good reasons to be afraid of that, there are several long-term things that I consider when I advocate for it.

1. Species direction
Right now, the "Rat race" is about the best nation, control of resources, wars famines disease spreading because there is no coordinated, worldwide effort. There is some, but it is all by voluntary membership in over-bloated beauracricies (spelling, wow i can't spell today) that are corrupt and ill-monitored. A unified world government would be able to allocate resources in a better manner. There is enough food to feed everyone on the planet right now; the problem is distribution.

2. Interstellar travel
You will be able to go along with the concept that we need to get to the stars, from what I have read of your postings in the forum. So skipping that argument, one of the biggest hurdles is being able to get a significant enough population from our planet to another planet. That will require dedicated resources and long-term planning that a world government could provide, plus, on the darker side of it, it would provide a society in which people grew up pre-conditioned to follow orders blindly and be "a number" in the system.
This will be essential for moving quantities of population through space in the time frame we would be looking at (years). Imagine a bunch of rugged individualists going for decades through space and keeping things in good order? Nope. What you need more than that is "insect" type mentality, with the passengers and crew under strict surveillance and direction in order to conserve the absolutely limited resources available aboard a flight of that length.

3. Normalizing technology and information transfer
This kind of goes to the crux of it, which the first 2 items will be derived from. The ability to access all the information needed to further our race as a whole. Universal ID, genetic tracking, analysis of DNA types in order to place individuals in better job fields or catch people who might have talents and cultivate them to the betterment of themselves and society.

We the People ARE the world

We the People ARE the world. That is what one-world is all about. It isn't about the corporations, or the politicians, or any of the current institutions. It is about the People of the world rising up and saying "We are what is important". The world will never be ready for a one world government. The USA wasn't ready for a government. The ideas of a few men are what prevailed. A few men applying their influence for what they believed was in their benefit, and the benefit of the many.

You all want to talk about the sovereignty of the USA. And how we need to look after ourselves. And d%mn the rest of the world. But what you don't want to talk about or accept is that the rest of the world is out there, and we are part of it, and we are quickly becoming Just Another Country, not the global powerhouse we have been perceived as.

So now what? Continue with our blind arrogance and think we are better somehow? The working class is worldwide. Most people just want to go to work, make enough money to put a house over their heads, food on their table, and have a couple of brats running around. All over the world, not just here. They matter as much as any of us matter. They aren't terrorists, or commies, or any of the "Other" words used to separate and divide humanity based on the current political and social whims. They are people who do what we do here.

It is the tiny minority that hold true power in the world, and their power is supported by those who believe in their causes. It has always been this way, and it always will be this way. Most people are not leaders - the old saying about Chiefs and Indians has been the way of people since people were. So when we talk about one world, we are talking about an idea like any other idea out there. Most ideas are nationalist, these days. There are some supranationalists, and their number is growing. And yet in every country there will still be those who cling to the artificial ideas of separation as a species into our little tribes and cliques.

The USA isn't ready for our government. No country, no geographical area, no political division on any map is "ready" for their government. There will always be malcontents, and dissidents, and opposers. And yet we keep trying. Trying for a better future, a better life, a better way of doing things. We always will try, as a species, because that too is built into us.

Set aside your shackles, people of the world, and wake up to the reality that we are the power. Not the oilmen in Washington, not the mobsters in Moscow, not the dictators in two-bit countries worldwide. And so we need to embrace that, and become it, and build a better world for everyone, not just our little neck of the woods. Because if we don't, someone else will come eventually and kick us out of our little neck of the woods. Not in this generation, or the next, but soon. And it will be the world coming to do it to us, unless we jump on board and help become part of the global solution instead of a problem.

One World Government

I spend a lot of time these days pondering the efficacy of establishing a single world government to oversee human matters. On one hand, it seems that a massive, coordinated effort is all that will bring about the necessary purpose and change to develop a plan that will need to encompass the entire planet. But on the other, great things have been done, with cooperation between disparate sovereign nations, for centuries. A worldwide communications structure now spans the Earth and the Heavens. A travel network allows one to arrive safely on the other side of the world within a day. Information is spread, ideas shared, and situations resolved all without a worldwide governance body.
But can this last?
I say no. Yes, the world can continue in its way for years to come, perhaps even centuries. And perhaps, we will get off this rock and out among the stars. But why hamper the process with political conflicts, non-standardized technology, disparate plans and the like? What is the real fear behind a World Governmental Body?
Some will say it is a futile effort - just look at the corruption and inefficiency of the UN. The inability to maintain peace and stability tells greatly against such a plan. But the thing that will truly bring about change is not a peaceful, happy coalition of countries working together. The only thing that might bind the nations of the Earth together is war. Conquest and ruin on a scale previously unimaginable. A squashing of each and every nationstate, subjugated to the will of the One Government. Only then, can standards be enforced. Resources used towards specific, humankind-spanning projects. But! The argument goes, large government is inefficient and wasteful. Full of corruption. Oppression for the sake of the few. And all these charges are correct, and all of these things will happen.
But at the end, after perhaps decades or even longer, the human spirit will rise and transform the oppression into benevolence. The egregious into the just. But only by travelling through this fire will humankind be forged into something greater, a dedicated race to colonize the galaxy that we live in. Only the full focus of our will and resources will get us off this rock. Are hundreds of years of ruin and tragedy worth the final price?
