North American Union pt. 2

The Amero is a proposed currency for the North American Union. It would unite the currencies of the U.S., Canada and Mexico into a single currency. This would act as the Euro does, and replace the national currency of each Nation. This would be a next step towards a single currency used the world over. There are many ramifications to this idea, and it is denied that there is any sort of movement towards this end.

Is this a good thing? Would the U.S. economy get stronger? Canada, Mexico? Or would it hurt the economy by eliminating the exchange rate between the countries? Who would benefit the most from such a move?
